DSquared2 Spring 2014 Backstage

Go backstage at DSquared2 Spring 2014 with Dean and Dan Caten, Lindsey Wixson, Catherine McNeil and Josephine Skriver at one of the hottest fashion shows at Milan Fashion Week.

was the name designers Dean and Dan Caten gave to their 50’s beach party themed show. The set for the DSquared2 Spring 2014 show was a Polynesian paradise complete with a sand runway, “we’re storytellers, we’re showmen and this is what gets us going” they said about their high production spectacle.

Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury gave the models a gorgeous goddess glow and finished the look with Morange lipstick by Mac. Hair stylist Sam McKnight used plenty of Pantene Volume hair spray to create 50’s inspired bouffant “Americana” hairdos.

DSquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten were inspired by the 90’s supermodel Linda Evangelista and photographs by Peter Lindbergh shot in 1991. As Cara Delevingne told us backstage before opening the show working with Dean and Dan is a dream, ‘”It’s just about being sexy – they always want alot of energy, and they just give it and your bring it – it’s real team work“.

The beauty look created by makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury and hair stylist Sam McKnight perfectly captured the look of supermodel 90’s glamour. As Charlotte explained backstage the DSquared2 Spring 2013 makeup look, “is very Peter Lindbergh 90’s – it’s an almond smoky eye with a strong arched brow, contoured face with Mac Spice Lip Liner and Fleshpot Beige lips“. Sam wanted the hair to look modern so he made it shiny and super straight. The result was stunning – the girls looked sexy, cool and superhot.

The beauty look of Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2013 show – ethereal, light and a bit haunted. Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury used Mac Cream Color Base in Luna on the cheekbones and eyelids to give the models a beautiful glow. Paul Hanlon said that Prabal wanted the girl to look more innocent this time, almost angelic, so he kept the hair clean and very simple. “It’s all about quality hair” this season.

Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2103 collection was inspired in part by the artist Anish Kappor. As Prabal explained to me backstage – it’s all about the dress, “what is sensual and sexy to me – are dresses that are not so body-con. The whole idea of giving freedom to women is really appealing right now“.

Get the gorgeous beauty look that makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury and hairstylist Sam McKnight created for the DSquared2 Fall 2012 collection that was inspired by the 60’s and the icon of today, Lana Del Rey. Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury gave the girls a gorgeous supermodel brow, and used thick black liner to create a wing. She poured on the mascara and added two layers of lashes. Charlotte finished off the look using MAC Spice Lip liner and FleshPot lipstick to give the girls that sexy Lana del Rey pout. “It’s all about the feline eye, the pouty lip and the lash“.

DSquared2 fashion shows are always one of the best shows of Milan Fashion Week. Dean & Dan always stage a show that is entertaining and full of beautiful clothes that you actually want to own and wear. The concept behind their Fall 2012 fashion show is a 60’s ‘Back to School’ high school prom. As the boys told us backstage, “these are rich kids with a bad attitude“.

Watch Prabal Gurung Spring Summer 2012 fashion show. Nicki Minaj wasn’t the only one blown away by Prabal Gurung’s sexy Spring Summer 2012 Collection in New York. We agree – this was one powerful fashion show. As Prabal explained to me backstage “It’s sexy, tough, confident and at the same time sensual“.

Prabal Gurung’s collection is exploding with color and the show was inspired by Nobuyoshi Araki sensual flowers series which Prabal incorporated into all those gorgeous prints. Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury said Prabal wanted the women to feel powerful and intoxicating which is why she drenched the models lips in five layers of pink, “it’s like a burst of a flower”.
