For Prada’s Spring Summer 2020 show legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath reimagined 1920s beauty with a fresh, subversive twist. The look mirrored the collection’s quiet elegance—crinkled cotton sundresses, palm-frond embellishments, and an air of intellectual ease.
Backstage, the beauty story played out in contrasts. Most models wore luminous, barely-there makeup: clean skin, brushed brows, and soft, tonal hues. But for a select few, McGrath turned up the volume with bold lips and precise liner—creating a powerful, polished edge.
“It’s really about the woman who has no fear of makeup and a strong look,” McGrath said. “It’s a little bit bourgeois, but with an edge. She has a real sense of style—but she doesn’t have to try hard.”
