DSquared2 design duo Dean and Dan Caten have designed the costumes for the talent performing in the Opening Ceremonies on the Olympic Games tonight.  Expect “tasteful” looks, say designers Dean and Dan Caten.

The identical twin brothers and proud Canadians behind the Milan-based label Dsquared2 – fans include the likes of Madonna, Rihanna, David Beckham and Britney Spears, who they dressed for her Circus tour — say they’ve taken their 2010 Olympic design duties seriously.

“It’s the Olympics,” says Dan. “It’s not Las Vegas,” says Dean.

The Ontario-born designers, hosts of the Bravo TV show Launch My Line, have been in Vancouver all week fitting 18 celebrities for the opening and closing ceremonies, and ran with the torch on Wednesday morning.

Dean and Dan spoke to the Vancouver Sun about the experience, “It got a bit heavy,” says Dean, who practised running near his factory in Italy by holding a bottle of Jack Daniels — they’re animated about their Olympic looks. “The Olympics are kind of like the Oscars,” says Dan. “If we had to dress Britney [Spears] for the Olympics, I would dress her different than I would dress her for a show.”

We can’t wait to see the big reveal on the Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies on NBC TV tonight.
