Valentino is one of the great legends of fashion who has been making women look beautiful for over 45 years. We went backstage at Valentino’s Fall 2007 show in Paris to find out why he says “beauty is in his blood”.

Valentino Garavani’s Fall 2007 collection was inspired by a forties movie star, it’s “old Hollywood” glamour, a look that has really defined this designer’s extraordinary career –

” I put this collection together thinking about the glamorous girl, the glamorous people and they are around and they want to be beautiful. This is my final arrival – I want to make women look beautiful. I always loved glamour because I love a woman being beautiful, this is in my blood. You know what do I have to do – it’s beauty, like I love a beautiful lady, I love a beautiful dog, I love a beautiful piece of furniture

I love beauty, it’s not my fault” – Valentino

It seems the fashion world can’t seem to get enough of Malaika Firth.  The 19 year old British model from Kenya already stars in the Spring 2014 campaigns for Burberry Prorsum and Prada and also walked in the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

This  young star in the making, who has been called the “next Naomi Campbell” has a huge career ahead.  She is a stunning beauty who is gracious and is so proud of her mixed race roots.  Malaika told us backstage in Paris “I have this mix in me and I’m so proud to be a mixed race.  I think alot of mix race girls out there are insecure about their color and they should be proud and happy that they are both”.

Pat McGrath, the world’s hottest makeup artist shows us how to get the flawless look of Valentino Fall 2013 backstage at Paris Fashion Week.  Pat is Max Factor Global Cosmetics Design Director and in one season she creates some of the most directional makeup looks at New York, Milan and Paris collections.  We were grated exclusive access to film Pat backstage at Valentino, one of the most important shows at Paris fashion week.

As Pat explained to us backstage,  “It’s inspired by portraiture of a young girl,” McGrath said of the soft, romantic beauty look (Vermeer’s “Girl With a Pearl Earring” was on the designers’ inspiration board). The key to the beauty look was “flawless, perfected skin“, one of the key beauty trends for Fall.  Pat used MaxFactor Whipped Creme foundation (comes out September 2013) which gives a demi-matte finish to the skin and kept the rest of the look simple.  A touch of soft blush on the cheeks, and highlighter on the lids gave the models that innocent glow.  Watch our exclusive backstage beauty video with Pat McGrath backstage at Valentino here now.
