Balmain Spring 2017 Backstage ft Olivier Rousteing x Gigi Hadid

Designer Olivier Rousteing takes us backstage at his Balmain Spring 2017 Collection in Paris with Gigi Hadid and his supermodel goddesses Josephine Skriver, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, Doutzen Kroes and Isabeli Fontana. Hair by Sam McKnight. Makeup by Tom Pecheux.

Olivier Rousteing is on a high, with over 4.8 million followers on Instagram, he is a man who is on a mission to bring Balmain to a global audience. In June, news broke that Mayhoola, the investment group linked to the Qatari royal family, bought Balmain—just days before the fashion house’s menswear show in Paris, which will mean expansion and more stores opening around the world. “The Balmain Army has shed its armour,” he said. “Whatever I do, even if I cover up my girls, people can say it’s vulgar. But this is what it is. I think it’s really chic, really French. It’s Paris how I see it.”

The Alexander Wang girl for Fall 2015 is urban and cool and the beauty look hair stylist Guido Palau created is strong and extreme, “she’s a cool girl and she’s not going to listen to anyone’s opinion about her beauty“. The makeup look by Diane Kendal for NARS had a gothic vibe and was inspired by 70’s rock group KISS. On Tuesday night, on Wall Street in New York, the Balmain x H&M Collection made its global runway debut in front of a celebrity-packed audience which included Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Ne-Yo, Diane Kruger, Coco Rocha, Jourdan Dunn, Zachary Quinto and F1 Champion driver Lewis Hamilton were among the guests on hand to get an exclusive look at the glamorous, powerful and richly detailed collection designed by Olivier Rousteing. The Balmain collection will be available in H&M US stores and worldwide, as well as online, starting on November 5, 2015.

The night was as bold and powerful as Rousteing’s designs, bringing together fashion and music to celebrate the collection in a venue themed like a futuristic subway system. After an exclusive preview of the campaign music video, starring Kendall Jenner, dance crews hyped up the crowd for a runway show featuring top models.

After the fashion show, the Backstreet Boys’ took to the stage for a surprise live performance keeping the energy going late into the night with an audience packed with celebrities and fashion industry press celebrating the momentum for #HMBalmaination.
