Stella McCartney talks to us about her new fragrance ‘POP’ and the campaign starring Grimes, Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon, Kenya Kinski-Jones and Amandla Stenberg.

“In the world of beauty, I really want to create something that feels really now, that pops right now.” I was just really excited; I have two young girls, and I have alot of younger friends, and they really inspired me.  The cap is incorporated into the bottle, you can throw it into your bag, it’s a beautiful fresh, vibrant scent.

POP is the third fragrance for McCartney, and this one is aimed at millennials. “I wanted the casting to be young women about to pop who have something to say.  Stella chose girls that are young, modern and  I want the world of beauty for the next generation to be something a bit more that we can identify with.”

The film for POP was directed by Melina Matsoukas and features four very different young girls.  Performance artist Lourdes ‘Lola Leon’, Madonna’s daughter; musician Grimes, actress and campaigner Amandla Stenberg and animal activist Kenya Kinski-Jones.

Kenya told us she loved being in the film and said it was an unforgettable experience and so about now “the spirit of Pop is being in the moment, about being apologetic about who you are.”

Cara Delevingne and Miranda Kerr give us an exclusive look at Stella McCartney Spring 2014 backstage at Paris Fashion Week.  Miranda and Cara adore Stella McCartney for the same reason, “the Stella girl is effortlessly chic and elegant without having to try”.

Stella McCartney’s Spring Summer 2014 collection is all about the idea of approaching summer “in an honest way – the masculinity is still there but it’s also about that fluidity and femininity, it’s the idea that the clothes aren’t wearing you” she explained just moments after the show.  It’s one of the strongest collections by Stella McCartney, full of gorgeous clothes and some of the hottest accessories that we want now – especially the sunglasses.

The beauty look makeup artist Pat McGrath created for the show perfectly captures that Stella cool-girl look.  As Pat explained backstage “Stella wanted something more rebellious so we did an eyeliner on top of the eye and underneath the eye as well. It’s natural, fresh, tough and strong”.  The chic look that Eugene Souleiman created was “quite strict but had a softness about it”.  Models wore ponytails with a deep side part that gave them a masculine look but had a fresh sexiness about it.

STELLA MCCARTNEY Spring 2014 Presentation

Stella McCartney is one of our favorite designers, she is an incredible woman who instinctively understands how a cool girl wants to dress. Her fashion show is staged at the Paris Opera, one of the most beautiful historic locations in Paris which makes this and one of the must see events of Paris Fashion Week.  Top models like Karlie Kloss, Arizona Muse and Joan Smalls walk in her runway show because they love Stella’s vibe and the her natural approach to beauty and style. For Spring Summer 2013 Stella McCartney wanted to keep the beauty look simple but chic.   Hairstylist Eugene Souleiman did a minimal hair look and makeup artist Pat McGrath kept the focus on the eyes adding a line of turquoise green eyeliner. The fresh beauty look complimented Stella McCartney’s Spring 2013 collection that was athletic, graphic and green. “We had green in the collection so I wanted a dark green line” Stella explained backstage after the show. “For me, green is a specific message – it’s fresh, it’s direct, it’s straight to the point but at the same time it’s new”.  Discover more and shop the Stella McCartney Collection online now.

The beauty look for Stella McCartney Fall 2013 was minimal but gorgeous. Pat McGrath used mascara in black on top lashes and brown on the bottom ones to emphasize the eyes, it’s all about a beautiful lash“,  Pat said backstage, adding that the look overall was all about groomed eyebrows and perfected skin. “It’s just very Stella, it’s very fresh.”

Hairstylist Eugene Souleiman said he was creating a look for the models that was “more handsome. “What we’re doing is this kind of almost men’s groomed look, but with a matte texture.” He used Wella’s Ocean Spritz Beach Texture Hairspray and the result was just so cool, effortless and chic.  Watch our Stella McCartney Fall 2013 beauty video and discover more and shop the collection online at StellaMcCartney.Com.
