Go backstage at Roberto Cavalli Spring 2012 with hairstylist Guido Palau and top models Karlie Kloss, Magdalena Frackowiack and Arizona Muse. The inspiration – “A strong woman that wants to appear to seduce” designer Eva Cavalli explained to us after the show. The hair look Guido created was soft and pretty, not the ultra vixen look we’ve come to expect here. The Roberto Cavalli collection for Spring 2012 is opulent and shimmers with gold, hand embroidered, couture like pieces. As Eva Cavalli explained, “We wanted to bring light into the world that is sometimes very dark“. Hair by Guido Palau, Makeup by Pat McGrath.

Designer Marc Jacobs is rescheduling his Spring 2012 fashion show show from Monday evening, Sept. 12, to Thursday, Sept. 15, at 8:30 p.m., company president Robert Duffy told WWD on Monday. The switch will allow Jacobs and his staff to make up for time lost this past weekend when the entire design and sample room staffs were scheduled to work before Hurricane Irene intervened. The company will hold on to the Monday night slot, and will show Marc by Marc Jacobs then rather than on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m.

Milan Fashion Week: Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012 Menswear Collection is built around one idea ‘The Net.’ The perforated net-like fabric was used either in transparent or lined in washed cotton poplin for jackets, trousers, Bermuda shorts, T-shirts, bomber jackets, tracksuits and sweaters. It was the most directional look of the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012 collection – inspired in part from the fishermen in their native Southern Italy.
According to the designers, the idea was to update their sartorial roots, and involve the present generation in their fashion story. “We’re in the mood to experiment, to rework tailoring, making it modern and innovative,” Domenico Dolce said at a breakfast get-together with reporters before the show.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana know how to make men look sexy, but this season they kept it classic with crisp white shirts and tailored suits. There were plenty of new proportions – the pants were slighty shorter, the lapels on the jackets were gone and the whole look was fresh and strong.
