Watch our exclusive film on Burberry Backstage 2018 with makeup artist Wendy Rowe and top model Cara Delevingne at Christopher Bailey’s final Burberry Collection.  Some of the world’s iconic supermodels from Naomi Campbell to Kate Moss, Edie Campbell and Adowa Aboah were there to celebrate this seminal night in the brand’s history.

Wendy Rowe has been working with Christopher Bailey for 16 years. As the Artistic Consultant for Burberry Beauty, she creates the makeup looks for the fashion shows and advertising campaigns and designs the beauty range. Wendy’s role is all about taking Christopher’s vision for Burberry and translating it for the British woman. As she explains backstage, “this year it was all about creating the purest form of the models’ own beauty; just showing off what they were naturally born with”.

Supermodel Cara Delevingne loves Wendy’s natural, cool-girl approach to beauty and admits that she as “taught her so much about makeup”. British Model of the year Adowa Aboah adores Rowe because “she knows how to bring out your inner beauty, everything she does makes you look better”.

I met Wendy Rowe at her first Burberry show in 2002 and have filmed backstage with her for over a decade. So when Wendy asked me to come to London to film behind the scenes with her at Christopher Bailey’s final show I was honoured.

Watch the emotions unfold as Wendy Rowe takes you backstage for Christopher Bailey’s last season at the helm after 17 years heading up Burberry.  Discover  more about Wendy on her beauty blog WendyRowe.Com

Designer Olivier Rousteing takes us backstage at his Balmain Spring 2017 Collection in Paris with  Gigi Hadid and his supermodel goddesses Josephine Skriver, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, Doutzen Kroes and Isabeli Fontana. Hair by Sam McKnight. Makeup by Tom Pecheux.

Olivier Rousteing is on a high, with over 4.8 million followers on Instagram, he is a man who is on a mission to bring Balmain to a global audience. In June, news broke that Mayhoola, the investment group linked to the Qatari royal family, bought Balmain—just days before the fashion house’s menswear show in Paris, which will mean expansion and more stores opening around the world. “The Balmain Army has shed its armour,” he said. “Whatever I do, even if I cover up my girls, people can say it’s vulgar. But this is what it is. I think it’s really chic, really French. It’s Paris how I see it.”

Karl Lagerfeld takes us inside his Chanel Fall 2016/17 “Front Row Only” Ready to Wear Collection at Paris Fashion Week where all 3,000 guests were invited to sit front row. The decor was reminiscent of the salons at 31 Rue Cambon, where Gabrielle Chanel presented her designs.

People complain they can’t see the clothes because they are too far away; this season everyone is front row”  – Karl Lagerfeld.

We loved all the new accessories. Boaters, helmets and riding hats in tweed, felt or leather were fastened by straps adorned with byzantine crosses, pearls or camellias. Models walked down the runway in boots with horizontal lacing or loafers with heels that accentuated a modern attitude.  Witty accessories such as cat cuffs, emoticon jewelry, and bobbin and coat-hanger handbags punctuated the silhouette.

Post show, Karl Lagerfeld told us about the gorgeous beauty look of the show by Tom Pecheux, and why he loves working with the hottest “models of the moment” Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.  Featuring interviews with Chanel ambassadress Willow Smith and music mogul Pharrell Williams.

Gigi Hadid takes us backstage at Anna Sui Spring Summer 2016 at New York Fashion week and tells us why she adores fashion designer Anna Sui and what her role as spokesmodel for Maybelline New York means to her.

Gigi Hadid has always been open about her feelings about her fame as a social media supermodel and has been very candid about her feelings on body shaming on social media. She has been a Maybelline New York spokesmodel since 2015 and tells us it’s a role she is very proud of –

“I grew up watching Maybelline New York commercials and singing the jingle in my bathroom and doing my makeup and to now be able to be in the commercials and be on the screen with the girls singing along too is amazing. I genuinely love the brand and the products and that was something really important to me. It’s very important to me when I make all my deals I genuinely want to be able to represent things that I love because I won’t be able to do it as well if I don’t love the brand, so I’m very happy to be a Maybelline girl.

My message to young girls about beauty is – this sounds so cliche but all the supermodels that I’ve met along the way – it doesn’t matter how beautiful they were, even if I looked up to them for my entire life it always ruined it if they were not nice or not genuine. My favorite girl is Candice Swanepoel who I grew up loving my entire life. Candice is the most genuine, kind person and that makes me love her even more.”

Designer Giambattista Valli told us he cast Gigi Hadid in his Spring 2016 show because he felt she embodies the spirit of his woman, “She’s perfectly beautiful, and so stunning and so real“.

American born Gigi Hadid is 20 years old and is signed to IMG models and is a social media superstar with over 7.2 million Instagram followers.  She has appeared in Sports Illustrated and is one of the faces of Maybelline New York.  During the recent Spring 2016 fashion month, Gigi walked in some of the world’s hottest designer fashion shows including Anna Sui, Tommy Hilfiger, Versace and Balmain.

Backstage at Giambattista Valli Spring 2016 show supermodel Gigi Hadid speaks to us about body-shaming on social media and the impact of the bold viral post that she recently shared with her Instagram followers.  Hadid had received numerous negative comments on the popular social media app, with some criticizing her curves, slightly jumpy walk and reality show pedigree.  On September 28th she defended herself with a passionate, heartfelt post on her Instagram feed:

“No, I don’t have the same body type as the other models in shows… You can make up all the reasons you think I am where I am, but really, I’m a hard worker that’s confident in myself, one that came at a time where the fashion industry was ready for a change.” @GigiHadid

We caught up with Gigi Hadid backstage at the Giambattista Valli show in Paris to find out more about her empowering message for women everywhere.

Video might have killed the radio star, but recently talk radio has made a comeback in popular culture thanks to the internet phenomenon of podcasts. These days there’s a seemingly endless variety of podcasts to choose from, many with several hundreds of episodes. Perhaps you, like many people, have taken an interest of late but aren’t really sure where to start? That’s why we’ve broken it down for you into 12 critically acclaimed, highly recommended series.

We are grateful to the editors to this glowing review of our show:

MODTV Fashion Video Podcast (Fashion)

In short:

Behind-the-scenes at Fashion Weeks around the world.

What’s the deal?

MODTV is the go-to in online fashion hubs, providing behind-the-scenes, editorial, and branded content centering around current labels, Fashion Week happenings, and the designers, models, and editors of the moment. The MODTV podcast is part of the site’s video series with a focused mission: each episode goes backstage at a different runway show, exploring a certain theme or aspect of the presentation.

Who’s talking?

The show has no host per se, but each episode follows a certain fashion personality as they navigate backstage at a show: it could be anyone from designers like Jason Wu or Karl Lagerfeld, or models like Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne and Rosie Huntington-Whitely. Even Rihanna has made an appearance.

Why should I care?

MODTV helps to place Fashion Week in a new light. Where once an invite to Fashion Week was a golden ticket, now anyone can have both on-site and backstage access to the most coveted shows. The effect is profoundly humanizing, and it presents both the clothing and the people behind it in the way they were meant to be shown: in real life.

Where should I start?

Our favourites include a look at Karl Lagerfeld’s recent show for Chanel Spring 2015 and a backstage view of Alexander Wang showing in New York.
