Dolce & Gabbana‘s Fall 2010 Collection is one of the best of the season. The beauty look makeup artist Pat McGrath and hairstylist Eugene Souleiman created was strong, sexy and classic.

Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana have gone back to their Southern Italian roots for this collection: Sartorialita, Sicilianita and Sensualita are the words they used to describe the inspiration for this show. We are in love with everything in this collection and can’t wait to go shopping! You can shop the collection now on their website DolceGabbana.com.

The look of Roberto Cavalli for Fall 2010 is a luxurious hippy. The beauty look captures one of the major trends of the new fall season “grunge revisited“.

Backstage makeup artist Pat McGrath and hairstylist Guido Palau perfectly captured that cool look – disheveled hair, smudgy makeup – minus the grittiness. Courtney Love, one of the icons of the grunge era is a major fan of Roberto Cavalli, and we spoke to her backstage before the show. Featuring interviews with Eva Cavalli.

The look of Proenza Schouler’s Fall 2010 collection is young, urban, and ultra-cool. The model’s dark crimson lips and dishevelled hair perfectly captures one of the hottest beauty trends of the fall season, “grunge revisited”. Designers Jack McCollough Lazaro Hernandez told us they were inspired by iconic women of the early 90’s – think Juliette Lewis and Winona Rider.

The skinny graffiti-splattered J Brand jeans from the show are now available, you can shop for the collection on their website ProenzaSchouler.com. Makeup by Diane Kendal and hair by Didier Malige for Frédéric Fekkai.

Films give fashion photographers the opportunity to bring beautiful images to life. Top model Eniko Mihalik stars in a short film by photographer KT Auleta and Lancôme makeup guru Aaron de Mey. It’s a dazzling poolside spectacular shot for the fashion website Nowness.

This is a rare treat, being able to watch a shoot by photographer Steven Meisel that’s been captured on video. Meisel is one of the world’s hottest fashion photographers, and a regular contributor to Vogue Italia and Vogue USA. He never lets anyone shoot him on camera, and rarely lets any video crews on any of his sets. But perhaps now that Vogue Italia now has a hot new website, Vogue.it, it looks like the legendary photographer has had a change of heart.

A genius storyteller, for the June edition of Vogue Italia Steven Meisel looks to the wilderness for inspiration and shoots the story “Wild Is the Wind” with supermodel Eva Herzigova. It’s a styled by Meisel’s favorite beauty team – hairstylist Julien d’Ys and makeup artist Pat McGrath.

Everything Steven Meisel shoots is magic, and this one has a raw, enchanting mood about it. What can we say except we love it. Check out Vogue Italia’s new website, the art direction is stunning and it’s on our daily must read list.

Alexander McQueen was a creative genius and visionary and it’s impossible to imagine the world of fashion without him. The 40 year old award-winning British designer died on Thursday, February 11th at his London home.

McQueen liked to push people’s buttons. With the help of music-video producer Sam Gainsbury he transformed his catwalk shows into spectacular cinematic productions. The staging of his fashion shows were epic, intense productions that had something elemental – water, ice, fire, or live animals – taking you inside a world of his own creation, his shows transported you to another place. That was McQueen’s plan – he wanted you to feel breathless, shocked and full of emotion watching his show.

When you pulled back the curtain backstage at his show you never knew what was going to happen, but you always knew it was going to be something out of this world. Our crew was at his last show in Paris on October 6, 2009 and were one of the lucky few that were invited to shoot backstage.

The show called Plato’s Atlantis was perhaps one of his most extraordinary – an sensory explosion of fashion, beauty, technology and art. Alexander McQueen may be gone but he has left us with some of the most powerful visual experiences the world of fashion will ever know. We will all really miss him.
