French designer Nicolas Ghesquiere first Collection for Louis Vuitton closes Paris Fall 2014 Fashion Week. Read the inspiring note Ghesquiere wrote to all his invited guests –

Today is a new day. A big day. You are about to witness my first fashion show for Louis Vuitton. Words cannot express exactly how I am feeling at this moment… Above all, immense joy at being here, in the knowledge that my stylistic expression is at one with the Louis Vuitton philosophy.

The proud legacy. The inspiring history that looks to the future and to the world. The quest for authenticity and innovation. The desire for timelessness. Done not every designer ultimately seek to create something timeless? I salute the work of Marc Jacobs, whose legacy I wholeheartedly hope to honour. And I thank you for being here to share this moment with me. Thanks to all of you who have helped me to tell this new story and who make Louis Vuitton what it is, and especially to those who work with me. Thanks to everyone who is here on this day, this morning. Right now.

Louis Vuitton released the image of Bündchen via Twitter, and the remainder are available to view on WWD, which reports that, somewhat fittingly for Jacobs’ transition, the portraits were shot in New York, rather than Paris.

Louis Vuitton has appointed Nicolas Ghesquière the new artistic director of Louis Vuitton Womenswear, effective immediately. Ghesquière will show his first collection for the LVMH-owned luxury brand in March 2014.

Previously, Ghesquière spent 15 years at Balenciaga, a once ailing French womenswear brand which he transformed into one of the world’s most forward-thinking luxury brands and the hottest ticket at Paris Fashion Week with his sculptural tailoring and advanced fabrics.

In a statement, Louis Vuitton said Ghesquière would bring “a modern creative vision to the house’s women’s collections, building on the values of refinement, savoir faire and extreme quality.”

“Louis Vuitton has always incarnated for me the symbol of ultimate luxury, innovation and exploration. I am very honoured of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great maison. We share common values and a vision,” said Ghesquière.  (Source: Business of Fashion)

Watch this gorgeous fashion film by Director James Lima featuring top models of the Louis Vuitton Fall Winter 2013 collection and backstage footage at the show. Featuring Cara Delevingne, Edie Campbell, Isabeli Fontana, Madgalena Frackowiak, Lily McMenamy, Saskia de Brauw and Georgia May Jagger.

The film was made for LOVE Magazine and styled by the Editor Katie Grand, soundtrack by Steve Mackey. The top models of Louis Vuitton Fall 2013 fashion show are seen on the streets around the Pont Neuf in Paris at night, as well as backstage at the Louis Vuitton Paris fashion week fashion show by designer Marc Jacobs.

Sumptuous and pretty. Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2012 collection perfectly captures the soft, romantic look of the season.  Designer Marc Jacobs is so inspiring and he knows how to create the “wow” factor by staging shows that are full of fantasy and great fashion.

The models a the Louis Vuitton show looked like fairy tale princesses as they sat on the white carrousel in their embellished sorbet colored dresses.  The show was beautiful and just out of this world.  It’s Marc Jacobs love of beauty and fashion that really comes through at every Vuitton collection he creates.

As Marc explained to me backstage after the show, “I love fashion so much, we don’t do this because we have to – we do this out of love – it’s not for a paycheck – it’s done from a place of passion.  Nobody needs fashion – it’s a luxury.  Nobody needs fashion, they want fashion – it sort of pulls at your heart when it works“.
