Giambattista Valli show-Haute Couture… by afp-fashion

“Talk about making an entrance. Valli fairly erupted onto the haute couture calendar Monday with a collection of glamorous sheath dresses and evening gowns that dripped drama.” AP

“Although this designer has dabbled with demi and semi couture in the past … the confidence and clarity with which Valli showed in this show will ensure him entry into the big brand superleague of designers in the very near future we feel.” The Daily Telegraph

“Valli’s debut couture collection brought to a crescendo the design signatures that have so enamoured the sleek, well-to-do devotees of the designer’s ready-to-wear line.” ELLE UK

“A finale of gowns embroidered with enough layers of frilled tulle to fill the entire width of the catwalk gave us our first proper fashion moment of the week.” Grazia

“Hello, gorgeous! Giambattista Valli may be a newbie at couture week (yes, this is his first collection!) but he scored a home run.” (MyDaily UK)

“On the day when he was finally able to realize his long-nursed couture dreams, Giambattista Valli rose to the challenge of tradition with a collection that threw down the gauntlet to anyone who would insist that this rarified métier is on its last legs.”

“A culmination of everything he knows about crafting gorgeous things from the ‘50–50’ relationships he has with the women whose tastes he knows so well.” (

“It was a confident start.” WWD

Supermodel Liya Kebede has been named the new face of L’Oreal Paris. The 33 year old mother of two is the newest global ambassador for L’Oreal Paris working alongside Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce and Gwen Stefani.

Liya was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and is currently represented by IMG Models. The supermodel’s big break came in 2000 when designer Tom Ford booked her for the Gucci show, and she quickly became a huge star on the international fashion scene. In 2003 she was the first woman of color to be signed to a cosmetics contract with Estee Lauder. Since 2005 she has worked with WHO, the World Health Organization’s Ambassador for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health.

Liya is a very strong, inspiring, and courageous woman, with an extremely refined and enchanting beauty. Her generous commitment to the cause of women’s wellbeing is also remarkable,” says Cyril Chapuy, Global Brand President of L’Oreal Paris.

It is important for me that I represent a brand that reflects my personality. I’m pleased to play a part in sharing the uniqueness, the charisma, and the incredible stories of women of all origins and from all regions of the world,” says Kebede.
