Watch our exclusive video and get an all access pass at Marc Jacobs Spring 2014 and go backstage with Cara Delevingne, Georgia May Jagger and Lily McMenamy and makeup artist Francois Nars at New York Fashion Week.

It’s all about individual style at Marc Jacobs Spring 2014 and one look at his model casting and you instantly understood the message.  Even though all the models wore bleached out surfer punk wigs, it was impossible not to still notice the models of the moment – Cara Delevingne, Georgia May Jagger and Lily McMenamy (MJ current campaign girl).

Makeup artist Francois Nars gave the models a “slash of teal or ink blue eyeliner”.  There was no blush, no lip, and the skin was kept very transparent.  As Francois Nars explained it “Marc always wants the girls to look a little decadent and “off”.  He used NARS Blue Dahlia and Kaliste eye pencils (coming out in November) and tons of mascara to give the models that coo, downtown edge. The look was so cool and it worked perfectly with the clothes. Watch our exclusive Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 Backstage fashion video here now.

Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 backstage beauty with makeup artist Francois Nars and hair stylist Guido Palau and top models Cara Delevingne, Magdelena Frackiowiak, Jessica Stam, photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

The beauty look of Marc Jacobs for Fall 2013 “It’s a very underground, cool-girl look, but still very sophisticated“, makeup artist Francois Nars explained backstage at the show. “Marc always wants the girl to look sexy no matter what. He likes when the makeup looks a little destroyed“.

The hair look by stylist Guido Palau was inspired in part by a cut he had done on top model Edie Campbell for Vogue Magazine. Guido gave all the models haircuts like 80’s rock icon Joan Jett, “Marc was also referencing a girl in the 90’s called Kim Pierce who had a similar haircut – and then we got into Joan Jett and people like that. Marc liked the whole idea of deconstructing the glam he produced in his clothes”.

Allure Backstage Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 Backstage Beauty Video. Go backstage at Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 with makeup artist Francois Nars and hairstylist Guido Palau at New York Fashion week. 60’s icon Edie Sedgwick was the inspiration of the Marc Jacobs show. THE LOOK: Mod liner, strong brows and teased hair.

As Francois Nars explained backstage “We came up with an updated version of the ’60s look that Edie Sedgwick, the Andy Warhol superstar, was doing for herself. To make it fresh, we took out the heaviness of her look, we took out the eyelashes, but we kept the essence of it: thick eyebrows and black-and-white, very monochromatic makeup.”

The hair look Guido Palau created was all about a voluminous, teased ponytail. Guido spritzed the hair with Redken Guts mousse, made a deep side part, and rough-dried it. For lift at the crown, he used Redken Quick Tease at the roots. After gathering the hair into a ponytail, Guido pulled out little pieces of hair right before the show started, “so it feels like she’s slept in it.”
