Go backstage at Fendi Spring 2013 with designer Karl Lagerfeld, top model Cara Delevingne, makeup artist Peter Philips and hairstylist Sam McKnight.

Karl Lagerfeld always puts on a great show and his Fendi collections are always so modern, fresh and young. The inspiration for Fendi Spring 2013 was Memphis – the huge furniture movement of the 1980’s.  To capture that spirt hair stylist Sam McKnight created sharp aerodynamic hair that perfectly complimented the geometric clothes.

Peter Philips makeup brief was to include the colors of the collection, so he used the fabrics from the collection and glued it under the eyes.   As designer Karl Lagerfeld explained backstage after the show “It’s a total look. I have a vision – I have so many references in my mind – it’s like a huge Google storage in my mind, it’s  just something I felt.  It’s something very Italian, very Milano“.

We are in love with the the Fendi Spring collection especially all the cool accessories- from the new sunglasses to the shoes and designer Sylvia Fendi’s updated version of iconic Fendi Baguette bag.  Watch our fashion video and backstage at Fendi Spring 2013 here now.   Discover more online at Fendi.Com.

Fendi’s Spring 2012 collection was inspired in part by Italian neurologist Rita Levi-Montalcini who won the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1986.  She’s a mathematician, a woman who loves luxury – she’s perfect, but real.

The beauty look makeup artist Peter Philips created was luxurious – he used real gold and silver leaf on the models eyes to make them shine through the oversized sunglasses giving it an overall effect of extreme luxury. As Karl Lagerfeld explained to us backstage after the show ..” You have the instant feeling of refined work and quality that only Fendi can do….only this can be done in Italy…”

The Fendi woman is always confident and strong but for Fall 2011 she has an air of mystery about her.   Designer Karl Lagerfeld seems to always have the magic touch,  but this collection for Fendi is really one of his strongest yet – from the Mary Janes to the wild savage furs – everything about this show was desirable. It’s official Fendi and Prada will open Milan Fashion Week on Thursday, February 25th. It took several weeks for organizers to confirm, but the Fall 2010 show calendar is now complete with the world’s major international brands showing in four days ending with Versus on Sunday, February 28th. Less international brands, such as Laura Biagiotti, Mila Schon and Mariella Burani, will show March 1.

The Milan Live Streaming schedule hasn’t been announced yet but we’re sure several major designers will choose to stream their Collections online as they did for the recent Fall 2010 Menswear Collections. It’s going to be an intense four days in Milan, and below is the list of shows we’re planning to cover.
