PARIS, France: Designer Karl Lagerfeld’s Fall 2011 Collection for Chanel was casual, dark and moody – from the apocalyptic looking set to the dark, brooding palette of the clothes the show captured the sombre tone of Paris Fall 2011 Fashion week.
Supermodel Stella Tennant opened the fall show held at the Grand Palais in Paris. Overall the Chanel Fall 2011 collection had a masculine, sporty look with gothic undertones. Images from the fashion show were streamed live on the website NowFashion this morning. Here are a few of the photo highlights from the show.
Lady Gaga made her catwalk debut tonight in Paris at Thierry Mugler’s Fall 2011 Fashion show. The 24-year-old, who wore long blonde pigtails, strutted like a pro to the sounds of her own music – the debut of a new track entitled Government Hooker, joined supermodels including Jessica Stam, Coco Rocha and Alek Wek on the runway, all dressed as Gaga-alikes with flowing peroxide ponytails or white-blonde devil horns, lip-synching to the music.
But unlike the other girls, Gaga seemed at ease walking in the towering platform shoes – an art she has mastered in her high-octane stage routines.
Burberry has live streamed its Burberry Prorsum runway shows for the last seven seasons, and will host 40 global live-streaming events on February 21, including one in London’s Piccadilly Circus, which will broadcast the runway show on its famous 105-foot digital screen.
Of course, those not across the pond can also partake: the live events will take place in Burberry retail locations—including Paris, Milan, Rome, Dubai, São Paolo, Beijing, Brussels, and New Delhi, to name just a few—across 19 countries.
“Whether you are at home online, watching in Piccadilly Circus, using a mobile device, or in our store in Beijing, everyone will be able to feel the energy and attitude of the brand and the excitement of the show,” Burberry chief creative officer Christopher Bailey said in a release.
This is the first time an event has ever been live streamed onto the Piccadilly screen.
The Burberry experience doesn’t end with the runway, either. For one week following the show, shoppers around the world will be able to buy the Fall 2011 collection at Burberry.com. The items will be shipped globally in seven weeks.
