PARIS, France: Designer Karl Lagerfeld’s Fall 2011 Collection for Chanel was casual, dark and moody – from the apocalyptic looking set to the dark, brooding palette of the clothes the show captured the sombre tone of Paris Fall 2011 Fashion week.

Supermodel Stella Tennant opened the fall show held at the Grand Palais in Paris. Overall the Chanel Fall 2011 collection had a masculine, sporty look with gothic undertones. Images from the fashion show were streamed live on the website NowFashion this morning. Here are a few of the photo highlights from the show.

Lady Gaga made her catwalk debut tonight in Paris at Thierry Mugler’s Fall 2011 Fashion show. The 24-year-old, who wore long blonde pigtails, strutted like a pro to the sounds of her own music – the debut of a new track entitled Government Hooker, joined supermodels including Jessica Stam, Coco Rocha and Alek Wek on the runway, all dressed as Gaga-alikes with flowing peroxide ponytails or white-blonde devil horns, lip-synching to the music.

But unlike the other girls, Gaga seemed at ease walking in the towering platform shoes – an art she has mastered in her high-octane stage routines.

Exciting news for fans of fashion designer Tom Ford. Women’s Wear Daily is reporting Ford is quietly at work recruiting a design team for the new collection. According to WWD sources, “Ford is quietly assembling his design team, having recently tapped Caroline Tixier, a women’s ready-to-wear designer at Givenchy, and Pablo Coppola, an accessories designer at Alexander McQueen“.

Speculation in Europe is mounting that Ford is plotting a fall 2011 launch for his return to women’s wear, but with a presentation rather than a runway blowout. The designer, who gained fame in the Nineties for catapulting Gucci into fashion’s major leagues as its creative director, is said to be mulling an introduction in Milan or New York. Sources also said Ford is hammering out deals for launch exclusives with key retail partners.

The news that Ford is returning to the Women’s Ready to Wear scene fills our heart with joy and excitement. We have missed him since he departed Gucci Group in 2005 and can’t wait for him to come back.
