Valentino On Glamour “I love Beauty – it’s not my fault”

Valentino is one of the great legends of fashion who has been making women look beautiful for over 45 years. We went backstage at Valentino’s Fall 2007 show in Paris to find out why he says “beauty is in his blood”.

Valentino Garavani’s Fall 2007 collection was inspired by a forties movie star, it’s “old Hollywood” glamour, a look that has really defined this designer’s extraordinary career –

” I put this collection together thinking about the glamorous girl, the glamorous people and they are around and they want to be beautiful. This is my final arrival – I want to make women look beautiful. I always loved glamour because I love a woman being beautiful, this is in my blood. You know what do I have to do – it’s beauty, like I love a beautiful lady, I love a beautiful dog, I love a beautiful piece of furniture

FILM: The Pirelli Calendar 2011 by Karl Lagerfeld

Watch the full length film of the Making of the Pirelli Calendar 2011 shot by photographer Karl Lagerfeld. “Mythology” is the theme of the calendar as Lagerfeld was inspired by Greek mythology and cast his models as gods and goddesses.

As Daria Werbowy admits in the film “you have to be a warrior to be a model..and we are kind of like unearthly human beings“.

The 2011 Pirelli Calendar was shot at Lagerfeld’s studio in Paris and features supermodels Daria Werbowy, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Ana Rubik, Erin Wasson, Isabeli Fontana, Lara Stone, Magdalena Frackowiak, Brad Kroenig, Baptiste Giabiconi, Heidi Mount, Elisa Sednoui, Freja Beha, Iris Strubegger, Jack Davies, Bianca Balti, Garrett Neff, Jeneil Williams, Natasha Poly and Lakshmi Menon.

Backstage: Karl Lagerfeld Shoots Pirelli Calendar 2011

Designer Karl Lagerfeld is shooting the Pirelli Calendar 2011 and this one is not happening on a beach. Backstage pictures of the shoot surfaced today with Karl and top models Isabelli Fontana and Bianca Balti on The House of Models website.

The location of these twitpics have not been disclosed, but WWD reported last month that Karl intends on shooting the girls for the coverted calendar at his studio in Paris.

Top models Heidi Mount, Natasha Poly, Magdalena Frackowiak and Lara Stone have been booked to shoot the sexy Pirelli 2011 Calendar which should be released sometime later this year. According to WWD, members of Lagerfeld’s crew include makeup artist Peter Philips, hairstylist Sam McKnight and stylist George Cortina, and the four-day shoot is slated to wind up today.

The sought-after calendar is to be unveiled in Moscow on Nov. 30 in front of 600 VIPs at the Stanislavsky theatre. Next up: Lagerfeld will put down his digital camera and move on to moving pictures. He’s zooming down to Saint-Tropez to shoot a minimovie for the Chanel cruise show on May 11. It will feature model Heidi Mount and French actor Pascal Greggory.

On Monday LOVE Magazine goes on sale with 8 different covers featuring some of fashion’s most iconic models – completely nude.

Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Natalia Vodianova, Daria Werbowy, Amber Valletta, Lara Stone, Jeneil Williams, Kelly Brook and Kristen McMenamy are photographed naked in an identical pose by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot and feature in a 40-page shoot. LOVE Magazine is published by Conde Nast. As Love Editor Katie Grand explained to Vogue.Co.UK.

…”[W]e took eight women who are generally acknowledged as the most beautiful in the world, got them to show off their bodies —widely regarded as the most perfect in the world — and photographed them all in exactly the same position for the cover. We did this to show how much they differed physically from one another, which is why we also printed their measurements…”
