Tommy Ton Backstage

Tommy Ton is one of the fashion world’s hottest image makers and street style photographers, and after a decade of capturing Fashion Month first for his former blog Jak & Jil, Style.Com and GQ.Com. – today the 31-year-old talented Canadian announced he is breaking away from publications to launch his own website, TommyTon.com, which officially went live on Wednesday.

Watch our exclusive behind the scenes film and see how Tommy Ton’s passionate eye and love of fashion has made him the most influential street style photographer working today. A self described “fashion paparazzi” Tommy documents the exotic trends, the colorful accessories and the stylish people at fashion month.

As Tommy explains the internet and the digital age has given people the chance to become a working professional overnight, “the fashion show is the new red carpet, everybody wants to be a part of this world, it’s not so exclusive anymore. With the whole boom of the internet and blogging and twitter, people have become so connected to each other – it’s a community that has grown so fast.”

MODTV’s cameras captured Tommy in action from Milan to Paris fashion week and we spoke with some of his friends and fashion bloggers including Bryan Boy, Scott Schuman aka The Sartorialist, Garance Dore, fashion editor Anna Dello Russo and street style photographer Nam, StreetFSN. His private invitation only press presentation at Milan Fashion week is a ‘must see’ event for the world’s fashion editors, models and celebrity clients like Janet Jackson.

Get the gorgeous beauty look that makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury and hairstylist Sam McKnight created for the DSquared2 Fall 2012 collection that was inspired by the 60’s and the icon of today, Lana Del Rey. Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury gave the girls a gorgeous supermodel brow, and used thick black liner to create a wing. She poured on the mascara and added two layers of lashes. Charlotte finished off the look using MAC Spice Lip liner and FleshPot lipstick to give the girls that sexy Lana del Rey pout. “It’s all about the feline eye, the pouty lip and the lash“.

DSquared2 fashion shows are always one of the best shows of Milan Fashion Week. Dean & Dan always stage a show that is entertaining and full of beautiful clothes that you actually want to own and wear. The concept behind their Fall 2012 fashion show is a 60’s ‘Back to School’ high school prom. As the boys told us backstage, “these are rich kids with a bad attitude“.

Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 Backstage

Watch our exclusive Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 backstage beauty video with makeup artist Peter Philips, hair stylist Guido Palau. This Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 collection designed by Sarah Burton was breath taking and magical and it looked like a haute couture collection. The Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 show was bold, futuristic and outer-worldly beautiful.

Hair stylist Guido Palau explained the look was manga inspired, “the feeling of the show is that beautiful, powerful McQueen woman but this time she is more futuristic”. All the models looked alike – each had a platinum blonde wig and each girl wore a mirrored silver visor that covered up almost the whole face.

Makeup artist Peter Philips gave the models beautiful, pure, alabaster ivory skin using Chanel Mat Lumiere foundation. As Peter explained “you can feel the face through the visor, but you don’t really see one”.

“It’s definitely art” actress Salma Hayek told me after the show. “It takes you somewhere special, you never know where she (Sarah) is going to take you, it’s ethereal, it really transports you somewhere”.

Anna Dello Russo Accessories Collection for H&M

Anna Dello Russo, Vogue Japan Fashion Editor at large and fashion blogger is designing an accessories collection for H&M. The line of hats, jewelry, bags, shoes and sunglasses designed by Dello Russo is going to launch worldwide in October. It’s the first time H&M have collaborated with a fashion editor for design purposes.

Anna Dello Russo is one of fashion photo blogger Tommy Ton’s favorite subjects. She’s known for her flamboyant style, and wears some of the most incredible clothes, hats and accessories and during fashion week. Creating this new collection for H&M will give Anna the chance to share her love of fashion with consumers. She told WWD “I wanted to create precious accessories that are impossible to find. With these pieces everybody can have fun, turning an ordinary day into a fantastic fashion day.”
