Versace Fall 2011

The Versace Fall 2011 collection was one of the season’s standout collections at Milan Fashion Week.

Designer Donatella Versace went back to the roots of the house, using the baroque tulip which was one of her brother Gianni Versace’s favorite flowers. It was a strong show from every point from the medusa buttons to peep toe boots to the military styling that is sure to be a huge trend for fall. The show had a sense of nostalgia about it as the show was held at Via Gesu – the location where her brother Gianni Versace did all his fashion shows.

Featuring interviews with Hilary Alexander, Mario Testino, Oribe, Susie Bubble, and top models Arizona Muse, Lindsey Wixson and Natasha Poly.

Jason Wu goes for Gold – Fall 2011 Fashion Week

One of First Lady Michele Obama’s favorite designers, Jason Wu described his Fall 2011 Collection as “baroque meets sportswear”. Backstage Jason told us he was inspired by Robert Polidori’s book that documented the restoration of Versailles over a period of 25 years. He brought that influence into every part of his stunning Fall 2011 show from the 24 carat gold leaf he put the in the models hair to the gold shimmer on the eyes.  The beauty look for the collection was full on glamour.  Top Model Karlie Kloss takes us backstage. Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2011

Video: Designer Karl Lagerfeld presented his Chanel Haute Couture Collection for Fall 2011 last night at 10pm because the designer wanted the Grand Palais to be flooded with moonlight. The collection had a sombre, seductive mood about it, inspired by the twenties and Coco Chanel – the focus was the tweed skirt suit. The set added to the mystery – the backdrop was a neon-limned mock-up of the Place Vendôme, and the floor was covered with a granite-like black surface which twinkled to resemble rain soaked pavements. Proenza Schouler Spring 2011 Backstage

For Spring 2011 Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez explore their notion of lady dressing and clichéd ideas of classic femininity.

From pencil skirts, tweed jackets, and lingerie-inspired dresses they presented a collection that was sexy and powerful.  The beauty look at the show was also strong and confident – Diane Kendal did a minimal makeup that was bold and slightly androgynous.  Paul Hanlon’s slightly undone updo hairstyle that was meant to look believable and touchable.  It’s one of our favorite collections of the season.
