Video: Designer Karl Lagerfeld presented his Chanel Haute Couture Collection for Fall 2011 last night at 10pm because the designer wanted the Grand Palais to be flooded with moonlight. The collection had a sombre, seductive mood about it, inspired by the twenties and Coco Chanel – the focus was the tweed skirt suit. The set added to the mystery – the backdrop was a neon-limned mock-up of the Place Vendôme, and the floor was covered with a granite-like black surface which twinkled to resemble rain soaked pavements.
