Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 backstage beauty with makeup artist Francois Nars and hair stylist Guido Palau and top models Cara Delevingne, Magdelena Frackiowiak, Jessica Stam, photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

The beauty look of Marc Jacobs for Fall 2013 “It’s a very underground, cool-girl look, but still very sophisticated“, makeup artist Francois Nars explained backstage at the show. “Marc always wants the girl to look sexy no matter what. He likes when the makeup looks a little destroyed“.

The hair look by stylist Guido Palau was inspired in part by a cut he had done on top model Edie Campbell for Vogue Magazine. Guido gave all the models haircuts like 80′s rock icon Joan Jett, “Marc was also referencing a girl in the 90′s called Kim Pierce who had a similar haircut – and then we got into Joan Jett and people like that. Marc liked the whole idea of deconstructing the glam he produced in his clothes”.

Allure Backstage Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 Backstage Beauty Video. Go backstage at Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 with makeup artist Francois Nars and hairstylist Guido Palau at New York Fashion week. 60′s icon Edie Sedgwick was the inspiration of the Marc Jacobs show. THE LOOK: Mod liner, strong brows and teased hair.

As Francois Nars explained backstage “We came up with an updated version of the ’60s look that Edie Sedgwick, the Andy Warhol superstar, was doing for herself. To make it fresh, we took out the heaviness of her look, we took out the eyelashes, but we kept the essence of it: thick eyebrows and black-and-white, very monochromatic makeup.”

The hair look Guido Palau created was all about a voluminous, teased ponytail. Guido spritzed the hair with Redken Guts mousse, made a deep side part, and rough-dried it. For lift at the crown, he used Redken Quick Tease at the roots. After gathering the hair into a ponytail, Guido pulled out little pieces of hair right before the show started, “so it feels like she’s slept in it.”

Sumptuous and pretty.  Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2012 collection perfectly captures the soft, romantic look of the season.  Designer Marc Jacobs is so inspiring and he knows how to create the “wow” factor by staging shows that are full of fantasy and great fashion.

The models a the Louis Vuitton show looked like fairy tale princesses as they sat on the white carrousel in their embellished sorbet colored dresses.  The show was beautiful and just out of this world.  It’s Mark Jacobs love of beauty and fashion that really comes through at every Vuitton collection he creates.

As Marc explained to me backstage after the show, “I love fashion so much, we don’t do this because we have to – we do this out of love – it’s not for a paycheck – it’s done from a place of passion.  Nobody needs fashion – it’s a luxury.  Nobody needs fashion, they want fashion – it sort of pulls at your heart when it works“.

As Marc explained to us the show’s fetish theme was based on “obsession”. Some of his favorite girls walked in the show including supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. It’s one of most directional shows of the fall season – it’s sexy, sassy and super hot. This article was written by Karen Morrison, Executive Producer & Director. Designer Marc Jacobs closed New York Spring 2012 Fashion Week with a collection that was enchanting and dazzling.  The gorgeous set at the Lexington Armory was designed to look like 40s style American dance hall, complete with wooden planks on the runway.  With the Philip Glass opera “Einstein on the Beach” as the soundtrack, the gold curtains parted to reveal 48 models each frozen in a Bob Fosse attitude setting the mood for the “All that Jazz” dance inspired show.

The Marc Jacobs Spring 2012 show was full of beautiful dresses made from techno fabrics that gave the collection a futuristic feel.   The beauty look makeup artist Francois Nars created was simple but sexy, the long lashes and pale lips had a 60′s feel and was inspired in part by singer Amy Winehouse. After the show we went backstage and caught up with of our favorite top models Ginta Lapina and she told us what it was like to be a part of this magical show.

Marc Jacobs to Close New York Spring 2012 Fashion Week

Designer Marc Jacobs is rescheduling his Spring 2012 fashion show show from Monday evening, Sept. 12, to Thursday, Sept. 15, at 8:30 p.m., company president Robert Duffy told WWD on Monday.  The switch will allow Jacobs and his staff to make up for time lost this past weekend when the entire design and sample room staffs were scheduled to work before Hurricane Irene intervened. The company will hold on to the Monday night slot, and will show Marc by Marc Jacobs then rather than on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m.
