Since leaving his job as Creative Director of Nina Ricci in Fall 2009 designer Olivier Theyskens has been working on a new book called “The Other Side of the Picture“. Published by Assouline,  Theyskens collaborated on the book with photographer Julien Claessens who captured him in action backstage over the last fifteen years.  Assouline has released a video which gives a revealing at look at how Theyskens and Classens approached the book project. Theyksens new photography book “The Other Side of the Picture” will be released during New York fashion week on February 12th.

At 33, Olivier Theyskens has been called one of the greatest designers of his generation. He was named CFDA’s international designer of the year in 2006, and has dressed some of Hollywood’s most stunning stars from Madonna to Jennifer Aniston.

Over the last decade MODTV has filmed backstage and reported on many of Olivier Theysken’s collections for both Rochas and Nina Ricci. But in 2006 we were granted exclusive access while he prepared on one of his collections for Rochas. It’s a rare look at Olivier in action.

Madonna is the star of the new Spring 2010 campaign for Dolce & Gabbana. Shot by photographer Steven Klein it’s inspired by iconic Italian actress Anna Magnani in the 1951 Luchino Visconti film Bellissima. The ad campaign seeks to capture a woman’s human side through the simplicity of daily gestures, according to Dolce & Gabbana.

Clad in crocheted tops and dresses, floral skirts and leopard spots from the Italian label, Madonna washes dishes, eats spaghetti with her fingers and chops vegetables. The 8 campaign images were shot in black and white in Manhattan and will appear in magazines worldwide at the beginning of January. What do you think?
