The beauty look at Giorgio Armani Fall 2010 has a space age feel about it. Makeup artist Linda Cantello brought the focus to the eyes and swiped red and grey stripes above the lids and then left the rest of the face bare. Hairstylist Oribe gave the models hair a geometric shape, as he told us backstage its “super sexy and modern”.

Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 Collection for Louis Vuitton was fun, young and inspired by new age travelers. The show was over the top – all the models wore gigantic Afros and they looked like accessory-obessed cyber club kids. Jacobs understands what style is about, and knows how to connect with a global audience. For the the first time he streamed the Louis Vuitton runway show live on the LV Facebook page. After the show backstage Katy Perry told us she loves his style – “everything he does is so fresh, Marc is a staple for me” Hair by Guido, Maekup by Pat McGrath.
For Fall 2010 Marc Jacobs cast his show with models who were mostly new faces. Many of the girls were unknown and had never walked in his show before which helped give the show an sense of innocence and freshness.
Francois Nars said the makeup was inspired by Kate Moss. Soft, faded lavender eyeshadow on the eyelids and pale orange lipstick gave the models a delicate look. The hair looked like the models did it themselves. As Guido explained “there’s an ease to her sophistication and glamour“.
Alexander McQueen was a creative genius and visionary and it’s impossible to imagine the world of fashion without him. The 40 year old award-winning British designer died on Thursday, February 11th at his London home.
McQueen liked to push people’s buttons. With the help of music-video producer Sam Gainsbury he transformed his catwalk shows into spectacular cinematic productions. The staging of his fashion shows were epic, intense productions that had something elemental – water, ice, fire, or live animals – taking you inside a world of his own creation, his shows transported you to another place. That was McQueen’s plan – he wanted you to feel breathless, shocked and full of emotion watching his show.
When you pulled back the curtain backstage at his show you never knew what was going to happen, but you always knew it was going to be something out of this world. Our crew was at his last show in Paris on October 6, 2009 and were one of the lucky few that were invited to shoot backstage.
The show called Plato’s Atlantis was perhaps one of his most extraordinary – an sensory explosion of fashion, beauty, technology and art. Alexander McQueen may be gone but he has left us with some of the most powerful visual experiences the world of fashion will ever know. We will all really miss him.

For Fall 2009 Marc was inspired by the early 80′s and club life in New York – it’s a tribute to those goth and punk club kids who loved dressing up and going out.
