MODTV Fashion Video Podcast (Fashion)

In short:

Behind-the-scenes at Fashion Weeks around the world.

What’s the deal?

MODTV is the go-to in online fashion hubs, providing behind-the-scenes, editorial, and branded content centering around current labels, Fashion Week happenings, and the designers, models, and editors of the moment. The MODTV podcast is part of the site’s video series with a focused mission: each episode goes backstage at a different runway show, exploring a certain theme or aspect of the presentation.

Who’s talking?

The show has no host per se, but each episode follows a certain fashion personality as they navigate backstage at a show: it could be anyone from designers like Jason Wu or Karl Lagerfeld, or models like Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne and Rosie Huntington-Whitely. Even Rihanna has made an appearance.

Why should I care?

MODTV helps to place Fashion Week in a new light. Where once an invite to Fashion Week was a golden ticket, now anyone can have both on-site and backstage access to the most coveted shows. The effect is profoundly humanizing, and it presents both the clothing and the people behind it in the way they were meant to be shown: in real life.

Where should I start?

Our favourites include a look at Karl Lagerfeld’s recent show for Chanel Spring 2015 and a backstage view of Alexander Wang showing in New York.

Alexander Wang takes us backstage at his Spring Summer 2015 Collection at New York Fashion Week. As Alex explained, the collection started with this idea of sneaker, “sport has always been something in our workmanship and something we referenced, but I wanted this to be about the cult of sneakers and the fetish of sneakers“.

The beauty look makeup artist Diane Kendal created for the show had the same athletic, sporty vibe. Cara Delevingne scores her first cover for British Vogue photographed by Mario Testino.  It’s been a great year for Cara, she’s gone from being the Burberry girl to walking in many of the world’s top designer fashion shows including Chanel, Fendi, Jason Wu and even the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Cara was named British Model of the Year in 2012, and she’s also starring in many top advertising campaigns from DSquared2 and DKNY.  Cara’s first cover for British Vogue is a milestone for the 20 year old model who told us she never planned on being a model.

Cara’s one of our favorite girls and with New York Fall 2013 fashion week about to kick off we know we are going to be seeing alot of her backstage. Follow Cara on Twitter or on Instagram @CaraDelevingne.

For Spring 2011 Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez explore their notion of lady dressing and clichéd ideas of classic femininity.

From pencil skirts, tweed jackets, and lingerie-inspired dresses they presented a collection that was sexy and powerful.  The beauty look at the show was also strong and confident – Diane Kendal did a minimal makeup that was bold and slightly androgynous.  Paul Hanlon’s slightly undone updo hairstyle that was meant to look believable and touchable.  It’s one of our favorite collections of the season. Watch our fashion video and go backstage.

The beauty look at Giorgio Armani Fall 2010 has a space-age feel about it. Makeup artist Linda Cantello brought the focus to the eyes and swiped red and grey stripes above the lids and then left the rest of the face bare. Hairstylist Oribe gave the models hair a geometric shape, as he told us backstage its “super sexy and modern”.
