MODTV’s production, Allure Backstage, hosted by Allure Beauty Editor Victoria Kirby, has been nominated for a MIN (Media Industry Newsletter) Best of the Web Award, the publishing industry’s top honor in the digital space, recognizing outstanding Web sites and digital initiatives among consumer and b2b media companies.
Allure Backstage is nominated in the Video: Magazine Branded Show Category. The segments were shot backstage in New York, Milan and Paris during Spring and Fall 2009 fashion week. Executive Produced & Directed by Karen Morrison, the 3 minute segments were shot and edited overnight on location and and streamed on Allure.Com within 24 hours of each fashion show.
The MIN Best of the Web Awards will be announced at on April 24th at the Grand Hyatt in New York City. “It’s about beauty” – the look of Balmain for Fall 2009 is for girls who love to look natural but sexy and want to rock out. This is the show that every top model wants to do during Paris Fashion Week so we went backstage and caught up with Erin Wasson, Angela Lindvall, Isabelli Fontana, and Carmen Kass to see what all the excitement was about. Diane Von Furstenberg’s collection for Fall 2009 was designed for global normads – women who love to travel, like to layer up and create their own individual look. As Ms. Furstenberg explains “clothes should be your friends” and your closet should be full of the pieces you love. Featuring top models Chanel Iman and Behati Prinsloo. Makeup by James Kaliardos.
British Designer Christopher Bailey has the winning formula. His collections for Burberry Prorsum have been a commercial success because he stays true to the company’s heritage, but he always keeps it cool. For Fall 2009 he combines strong and soft keeping his woman rooted in reality. As Bailey explained backstage this is a moment for ‘thoughtful fashion, staying in your lane and being true to who you are”. Makeup artist Wendy Rowe shows us how to get the beauty look.
According to New York designer Michael Kors it’s the balance between fantasy and reality that makes fashion work. His Fall 2009 collection strikes that balance perfectly. It’s powerful, confident and chic and very urban which means it’s full of black clothes every woman can wear. But it’s the acid bright neon colors that makes this collection a real winner. Featuring top models Jessica Stam and Chanel Iman. Makeup by Dick Page and Hair by Orlando Pita.
Designer Marc Jacobs show is the ultimate highlight of New York fashion week because it’s an inspirational trip. For Fall 2009 Marc was inspired by the early 80′s and club life in New York – it’s a tribute to those goth and punk club kids who loved dressing up and going out. Top model Chanel Iman gives us an exclusive look backstage and makeup artist Francois Nars and hair stylist Guido Palau set the stage.
