John Galliano presented his stunning Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring 2011 collection in Paris yesterday to rave reviews. The show was decadent, seductive and beautiful and just what we need right now – a fantasy that makes us dream.

Galliano said his Dior Couture collection was inspired by René Gruau, the illustrator whose work for Christian Dior in the forties and fifties created the house’s most iconic imagery. The London Telegraph’s Hilary Alexander went backstage and spoke to Galliano about the look of the show.

Gwen Stefani’s first TV Commercial for L’Oreal Paris – Video

Gwen Stefani is the new face of L’Oreal Paris and here is the behind the scenes video of her first TV commercial that was shot in Hollywood last month.

Gwen’s first collaborative ad will be for Infallible Le Rouge Lip Color, a long-lasting soft-shine lipstick that comes in a full range of every shade. The full length TV spot is set to premiere on Sunday January 16th on the Golden Globes telecast.

The Balmain girl always has a rock and roll vibe. Her clothes ooze sex and glamour which is why the beauty look at this show is always simple and chic. For Fall 2010 Makeup Artist Tom Pecheux created a “perfected” no makeup look – perfect skin, eyes, lips, cheeks and eyebrows. Hairstylist Sam McKnight gave the models a ‘polished natural” look. As Pecheux describes it, the result is ‘perfectly naughty”.

First Look: Chanel Fall 2010 Close Up

Backstage at the Fall 2010 Chanel show in Paris, a video crew working for the house was filming all the models in their finished looks. Here is the final result.

The Chanel video is beautifully shot and gives a detailed look at Karl Lagerfeld’s collection inspired by the icy northern winter. Check out the wild eye makeup by Peter Philips and the stunning accessories on some of our favorite girls including Abbey Lee, Hanne Gaby, Siri Tollerød, Iris Stubergger, and Freja. For Fall 2010 Marc Jacobs cast his show with models who were mostly new faces. Many of the girls were unknown and had never walked in his show before which helped give the show an sense of innocence and freshness.

Francois Nars said the makeup was inspired by Kate Moss. Soft, faded lavender eyeshadow on the eyelids and pale orange lipstick gave the models a delicate look. The hair looked like the models did it themselves. As Guido explained “there’s an ease to her sophistication and glamour“.

New York designer Diane Von Furstenberg always wants women to feel sexy when they put on one of her dresses, but for Fall 2010 there was also a menswear influence, ” I always wanted to have a man’s life in a woman’s body” but she added “but you don’t want to forget being a woman”. We love the fact that Diane always keeps it real, and makes clothes that everyone can wear. It was also great to see one of our favorite models, Natalia Vodianova open and close the show.
