Allure Backstage – Alexander McQueen Spring 2013 Backstage Beauty Video. Get the look of Alexander McQueen Spring 2013 and go backstage with makeup artist Peter Philips and hair stylist Guido Palau.  Netted hats masked the models’ faces at Alexander McQueen, but beneath was gorgeous, flawless skin – a look that is becoming the houses signature.

As makeup artist Peter Philips explained to me backstage, “You could almost call it a signature McQueen look. We did the girls really pure – a perfect skin using Chanel Mat Lumiere, a matte finish foundation that has a velvety texture.  The look Peter created was a beautiful canvas for the netting – the beekeeper hats that all the models wore.

Watch our exclusive Alexander McQueen Fall 2012  backstage beauty video with makeup artist Peter Philips, hair stylist Guido Palau. This Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 collection designed by Sarah Burton was breath taking and magical and it looked like a haute couture collection. The Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 show was bold, futuristic and outer-worldly beautiful.

Hair stylist Guido Palau explained the look was manga inspired, “the feeling of the show is that beautiful, powerful McQueen woman but this time she is more futuristic”.  All the models looked alike – each had a platinum blonde wig and each girl wore a mirrored silver visor that covered up almost the whole face.

Makeup artist Peter Philips gave the models beautiful, pure, alabaster ivory skin using Chanel Mat Lumiere foundation. As Peter explained “you can feel the face through the visor, but you don’t really see one”.

“It’s definitely art” actress Salma Hayek told me after the show. “It takes you somewhere special, you never know where she (Sarah) is going to take you, it’s ethereal, it really transports you somewhere”.

Featuring interviews with actress Salma Hayek, Vogue Japan Editor-at-Large Anna Dello Russo and top models Nimue Smith and Jac Jagaciak. Watch our exclusive Alexander McQueen Fall 2012 fashion video here now.  Shop the collection at AlexanderMcQueen.Com

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since the tragic death of British designer Alexander McQueen. As the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art gets ready to unveil the exhibit Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty on May 4th we take a look back at his final Paris show called “Plato’s Atlantis”.

When you pulled back the curtain backstage at a McQueen show you never knew what was going to happen, but you always knew it was going to be something out of this world. Our crew was at his last show in Paris on October 6, 2009 and were one of the lucky few that were invited to shoot backstage.

The show called Plato’s Atlantis was perhaps one of his most extraordinary – an sensory explosion of fashion, beauty, technology and art. Alexander McQueen may be gone but he has left us with some of the most powerful visual experiences the world of fashion will ever know.

Alexander McQueen was a creative genius and visionary and it’s impossible to imagine the world of fashion without him. The 40 year old award-winning British designer died on Thursday, February 11th at his London home.

McQueen liked to push people’s buttons. With the help of music-video producer Sam Gainsbury he transformed his catwalk shows into spectacular cinematic productions. The staging of his fashion shows were epic, intense productions that had something elemental – water, ice, fire, or live animals – taking you inside a world of his own creation, his shows transported you to another place. That was McQueen’s plan – he wanted you to feel breathless, shocked and full of emotion watching his show.

The show called Plato’s Atlantis was perhaps one of his most extraordinary – an sensory explosion of fashion, beauty, technology and art. Alexander McQueen may be gone but he has left us with some of the most powerful visual experiences the world of fashion will ever know. We will all really miss him.

Alexander McQueen liked blowing people’s minds. His fashion shows were a cinematic visual feast, an explosion of beauty and fashion, technology and art. We were one of the only crews allowed backstage at his last show in Paris in October 6, 2009.  The show called Plato’s Atlantis was inspired by Darwin’s theory of evolution and the show was streamed live on Nick Knight’s Showstudio.com. His final Paris fashion show for Spring 2010 really captures everything that Alexander McQueen was about.  He was a fearless visionary who wasn’t afraid to take risks, and knew that looking forward to the future is what fashion is really all about.
