Alexander Wang Fall 2013 backstage beauty video with makeup artist Diane Kendal for Nars and hair stylist Guido Palau. Featuring backstage interviews with Aymeline Valade, Kasia Struss and CND Nails Co-Founder Jan Arnold and appearances by top model Katya Riabinkina.

The Alexander Wang girl is a futurist who likes to make a strong statement, especially when it comes to her beauty look. For fall 2013 hair stylist Guido Palau did "ponytails with a difference " by adding cognac extensions in the models hair to achieve "this idea of cloning".  Guido slicked back the hair using Redken Hardware Super Strong Gel No 16 and used Diamond Oil (out in May 2013) to give it shine.

Diane Kendal kept the focus on the eyes using Nars Single Eye Shadow in Lhasa from crease to lid and used a black eyeliner to give the eyes more definition.  To finish the look all the models had sandstone inspired nail art by CND. As Jan Arnold explained to us backstage "it's an androgynous looking nail - we're calling it enigma".

Stella McCartney Fall 2013 beauty by makeup artist Pat McGrath and hairstylist Eugene Souleiman and go backstage with top models Bette Franke and Aymeline Valade.

The beauty look for Stella McCartney Fall 2013 was minimal but gorgeous. Pat McGrath used mascara in black on top lashes and brown on the bottom ones to emphasize the eyes, "it's all about a beautiful lash",  Pat said backstage, adding that the look overall was all about groomed eyebrows and perfected skin. "It's just very Stella, it's very fresh."

Hairstylist Eugene Souleiman said he was creating a look for the models that was "more handsome. "What we're doing is this kind of almost men's groomed look, but with a matte texture." Michael Kors Fall Winter 2013 Collection is sexy, athletic and chic.  As Michael explained backstage just moments before his show at New York Fashion week,  "If you live an urban life it's like being an athlete - life is fast and it's all about movement. I really wanted to combine the quintessential uptown polish of NY, Paris and London and merge that with this athleticism, because why not have it all".

The beauty look of Michael Kors Fall 2013 was inspired by the modern, graphic mood of the collection.  Dick Page used a golden champagne eye shadow from the limited-edition Shiseido Eye Color Bar palette (which comes out this Fall) along the models' cheekbones for a fresh glow, and to showcase the dramatic eye. The lip was a mix of the same pink cream shadow and Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in Fantasia.  The high ponytail that Orlando Pita gave the models was 50's meets 90's - he wrapped latex around the base to give the sleek, bouncy ponytails an edge of sexiness.

The beauty look of Marc Jacobs for Fall 2013 "It's a very underground, cool-girl look, but still very sophisticated", makeup artist Francois Nars explained backstage at the show. "Marc always wants the girl to look sexy no matter what. He likes when the makeup looks a little destroyed".

The hair look by stylist Guido Palau was inspired in part by a cut he had done on top model Edie Campbell for Vogue Magazine. Guido gave all the models haircuts like 80's rock icon Joan Jett, "Marc was also referencing a girl in the 90's called Kim Pierce who had a similar haircut - and then we got into Joan Jett and people like that. Marc liked the whole idea of deconstructing the glam he produced in his clothes".

On Friday afternoon, even with threats of a severe snowstorm about to hit the city - it was still a full house at his show on the Upper East side.

As Cara Delevingne told me backstage - "this is really the show that opens NY Fashion Week...Jason is such a sweet guy, I just love doing his show - it's always so elegant but cool". All of the models feel the same way about Jason - they adore him because he knows how to make each one of them feel beautiful.

Jason Wu is only 30 years old. In just 6 years since launching his business he has become one of the most important designers working in American fashion. Originally born in Taipei, he was raised in Vancouver, Canada and he now owns a very successful design studio in New York. He is First Lady Michelle Obama's designer of choice and created both of her  inaugural gowns, which helped put him on the international map.

For Fall 2013 Jason Wu celebrated the beauty of a woman - focusing on femininity and strength. As he explained to me "I really wanted to propose the idea of femininity as seen through my eyes - it wasn't about a complex concept or over reaching idea - it was about the idea of a woman - feminine clothes that women want to wear".
